Wednesday,
Aug. 25. (Before Mr. E. Marriott, P.M.) BREACHES OF THE LICENSING ACT.
William
Leathem and Frederick Leathem were charged with being on the licensed premises
of the Post Office Hotel after prohibited hours. They both pleaded guilty.
Arthur
H. Crook, licensee of the Post Office Hotel, was charged with permitting both
of the defendants to remain on his premises after hours.
Defendant pleaded
guilty and was represented by Mr. P. F A. Kinna. Sergt. Blanchfield detailed
the facts of the case.
In reply to Mr. Kinna, Sergt. Blanchfield said Mr. Crook
had conducted his hotel well since he had assumed control of the premises.
He saw
no liquor consumed. The P.M. imposed a fine of 10s and 6s costs in the case
against the two Leathems, and
fined Crook £ 2 and 6s costs. All fines were paid.
